For this project, I did Laser Engraved Night Light. My main inspiration was an anime called Fruits Basket, which is a show I started watching during my sophomore year. As an Animation student, I have been using anime as references for some of my own projects, and Fruits Basket is one of my favorites. I'm quite proud of the design and the final acrylic piece also came out beautifully! I probably spent too long brainstorming to be honest, but I am very satisfied with the final outcome.
I valued this project not only because I was able learn more about how to use Illustrator effectively, but also because I've never made anything similar to a custom engraved night light before. Anime style is my favorite style to draw in, so I'm happy we were given the freedom to create what we please and see our artwork come to life in something tangible.
