Originally, I wanted to use the idea of the lighthouse and planets to create my surreal composition- putting together the ideas of universe and the watchful loneliness of the lighthouse together. And that held for a while, until I decided off of a whim to add cats. I messed around with different orientations and cats to use, and decided to use these three. I thought the one on the left was funny (and also had a colorful backstory, having alleged killed a local grandmother), the one in the middle looked majestic and deity-like, and the third seemed perfect for perching on a planet. And from there, everything sort of melded together nicely.
