Cycles: A Phenakistoscope Wheel by Henry Lowell (2021)

I chose to animate a cat as my main subject for the wheel, as cats are my favorite animal, and they have an elegant form of movement. I chose not to include too much detail on the cat itself because the focus was on the way that it moved, not how it looked. I chose cool colors because I associate them with quiet, patience, calmness, and peace, which also apply to cats. The shapes, faces, and raincloud are representative of how life repeats itself, but in a predictable manner. Even if it is repetitive, it is still satisfying. I chose to make all of those simple as well because I was more concerned about the colors and shapes rather than the detail. The background is warm to contrast with everything else being cool. It also looks similar to a star, such as our sun, which drives the cycle of life. Related website
