Dino Nuggies and Teletubbie: A Senior Surreal Photo by Hannah Kitamura (2021)

To me, my surreal composition tells the story of pure chaos. It’s a fever dream, where your best dreams and worst nightmares are combined into one setting. I want to have people think about the craziest things happening in the world that would never happen, but would be your absolute nightmare fuel.

Quick selection was my best friend, as well as figuring out which layer should go where. To me, it was important to find out where everything should go and be layered to make the most cohesive story. I also wanted to be as accurate as possible when I was selecting my images, so I made sure to get every crevice.

Surreal composition truly challenged me to think outside the box, and toss out realistic expectations. I didn’t know where to start, so I decided to just find random images, and see what I liked combined. From there, I started to get chaotic ideas that I could build off of. Realistic composition required more thought and precision that had to seem realistic. Both are fun to do, but have different challenges. Related website
