All of the subjects for my watercolor photos were of landscapes. Due to me being overloaded with work from school and with the global pandemic, I am forced to stay indoors. It has been hard finding a way to get out into nature again and experience it, specifically plants and trees. In all my pictures plants are prominent, which may be because I am yearning to get back outdoors.
Using filters is a lot faster and easier than actually painting using brushes. However, I think it takes control away from the creator. In certain photos while I was editing, it was hard to come to terms with the fact that some parts of the picture didn't look like I would’ve intended. In my opinion you can also tell when a “painting” had actually been painted or had a filter applied to it, and personally I prefer the “painting” method better. I also find painting very therapeutic and enjoyable, so if I had the time I would rather paint these landscapes instead of using a filter.
I will probably use this in the future with graphic design. I can see this being helpful if I want to apply a certain style or aesthetic to my picture. It could also be fun personally, in order to make my digital drawings and sketches look more realistic. Overall I think that learning this technique was very useful, and I am certain that I will apply it to many other photos in the future.
