There isn't really a story to my painting, other than I saw a picture of a well and felt like painting it because the image felt quite peaceful. I think wells, especially old-fashioned stone ones like the one I painted are very interesting.
I've done a little bit of watercolor painting with real life materials, but this felt different. I wanted to capture the quaint, pastoral feeling many watercolor works have. In previous watercolor paintings that I've done, I went completely the other direction and painted dark and imposing shapes, so I decided to switch it up.
I enjoyed the pastel painting more because it was easier to add lighter colors back over darker ones. I also prefer analog painting over digital because it's easier to manipulate colors and shapes as I want to.
