Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

In Digital Media, we created lightboxes. I am a part of my brother’s NFT project, Chibi Club,  and as a way to give back, I thought that a lightbox with our NFT’s would be a great gift. They have been working hard to launch this project and I was able to work with them and learn about the film industry and how business works. Their NFT project incorporates film within their NFT community, allowing them to vote for what they want to see in the next project, and having an NFT allows them to have a stake in the company. NFT holders are given part ownership and being a member allows them to gain utilities such as exclusive merchandise, comics, films, and much more.  I am taking inspiration from this box and instead of the horror movie character, I am replacing it with the NFT.

My inspiration for this project was my brothers. They have their own NFT project and as a gift, I created my lightbox with each side being an NFT. This project was extremely fun and it made me think outside the box. Lightboxes are generally multiple layers stacked on top with light at the back, but if I wanted to showcase the art of the NFT, I thought about creating a dice with each face being unique. This was challenging because there was no template, so I had to find a way to have each piece fit all together.

I had to overcome some struggles to design how to fit the pieces together. I had to take my time to engineer each piece to fit together, be simple enough to put together, and sturdy enough so it wouldn’t be easy topple over and come apart. Another struggle was gluing all the pieces together. The original adhesive was used to glue the wax paper to the wood and all the pieces took very long to dry. The paper started to curl and the wood would move around and not stick together. I decided to use a hot glue gun to solve this problem because it was easy to manipulate and quick to dry and glue.

I will use the ideas I learned on this project in future projects and other areas of life by continuing to think outside the box and keep thinking of ideas to improve whatever I am doing. Innovating and applying new ideas to make something cool, better. The multi-layer wood art changed the way I see other art because I had to experience the entire process of creating something from scratch without a guide. I had to refine my idea and wood pieces because any small mistake can make the whole project not work.
