EXPLORATIONS PROJECT
For the Explorations project we were given the opportunity to learn develop and demonstrate a new skill within our elective class.
I decided to do my Explorations project on makeup in film. I am someone who absolutely loves makeup and I wanted to expand those skills that I’ve developed personally and for theater makeup and translate it into film. I first researched the history of it before practicing wound SFX.
After that for my big project I decided to make 2 distinct SFX looks using the following supplies:
- scar wax
- liquid latex
- makeup primer
- eye shadow
- fake blood
- makeup brushes
- sponge applicators
- blush
- metal sculpting tool
- setting powder
- face paint

Overall I am very happy with how my explorations project turned out. I would have preferred the mermaid look to be more convincing when the camera is so close but other than that I am proud of all the new skills I learned!
POETRY
In English we wrote short poems and recited them in front of the class. The following is my final poem about conformity.
belong.
Blue of jean holds together
proper and right
collecting tears and wear
white fiber separates
from Blue
seams rip silently
Blue of sea consumes the body
The mind the
heart
trees by coast
casting shadow
white caps as each wave
crashes on the Blue
drowning the crowd
Fabric frays
Tree sways
as a head rests on the pillow
to dream of a Blue sky
someday
After writing my poem, in Digital Media I then turned it into a visual representation. I used sound effects and relevant visuals in Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition in order to immerse the viewer in my poem.
