My whole life I have harbored an undying passion for crafting worlds, whether it was writing a story, programming a video game, or illustrating comics. But it was always about how these worlds functioned; the story of that world and why the story mattered. Every detail, from politics, to the currency, or even the laws, was key to the creation of a real and believable world. My creations through Freestyle were just more of the same, delicate ecosystems that I have always obsessed over, where every minute intricacy, down to the second, was crucial. And, just like everything else I create, the project is driven by questions and the questions are answered with creative problem solving, a trait emphasized by Freestyle’s teaching.
Freestyle has offered me this unique opportunity to explore my passions, but cast them upon a different medium; film. Through video I am able to convey meaning and shape a believable world in a different way than I had previously. Simultaneously, English has strengthened my ability to describe the worlds that I imagine. Essentially, Freestyle has allowed me to be imaginative with technology, but also has cultivated the increasingly important talent of conveying these ideas.
I strongly believe that this unorthodox path has shaped me in a way that standard education never would have because, by opening myself up to this opportunity, I had already prioritized self-development. After my goal had been made clear, Freestyle guidance was able to make sure I stay on track and maximize the progression towards this.
