Introduction
The Humor Project is an exploration into the world of comedy and what makes something funny. As we read the core text of this unit, Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, we analyzed humor techniques, such as black humor, irony, and satire. To apply everything we learned, we created our own humorous works which could be anything from a stand up set, satirical article, or cartoon.
This project challenged me to try my hand in an area I have little experience in. I valued studying comedy more analytically and understanding why something is funny. I also enjoyed working with VeeL again on a project. It was a lot of fun to script and film the animation together and present it to everyone together.
Rhetorical Analysis
In preparation for writing my own humorous animation, I studied mentor text, “Pigeon: Impossible,” an animation by Martell Animation. In my Rhetorical Analysis essay, I analyzed the humor techniques that made it funny and the underlying message of the animation.
