For the Narrative 2 Unit, I worked on separate projects in English, Design and Film. Design and Film both focused on the same narrative story that was written as a screenplay, while my English narrative short story was based off of my original Narrative film pitch (idea).

English
My short story went unfinished, but what is written is a little teaser to the narrative I had in mind.

In the 21st Century and the years before, people lived their lives in judgement and hate. People always saw other people in a negative light, looking down on their peers for what made them imperfect. As time continued, the world had become full of hatred and discontent. Fortunately, tags were created: the simplest solution to restoring peace, where everybody had their most positive character trait displayed as a hologram
Eris sits in a stiff, plastic, glossy white chair, facing a blank wall with the same blinding look. In fact, the entire building is pure white. Eris finds there is literally nothing to look at in front of her. The wall is completely stripped of any imperfection- no dust, spots, or scratches. Just like this flawless society…that Eris has found out isn’t completely defectless. In fact, she is the defect. What are they going to do? Will they be mad at her? Will they fix her? As she stares into the nothingness of her surroundings, she listens to her steady breathing, trying to block out her worries. She is confident that they will be able to help her and fix this blemish in their system.
“Eris?”
Eris turns to see a lady dressed in white attire. The lady’s eyes glance at Eris’ tag, and a look of slight shock covers her face before she quickly hides her reaction. She quickly averts her eyes back to Eris and flashes her an unconvincing smile. Eris shoots up out of her seat, realizing she is supposed to follow the lady. The woman pivots and walks straight, down a blank hallway, passing by various individuals dressed in similar, clean attire. She is uncomfortable, not just because of her neutral-colored clothing that pops out against the white building, but also because of all the eyes following her. She tilts her head down, looking at the lady’s feet in front of her, but she knows this won’t hide her tag, and it won’t prevent her from attracting the unwanted attention.

Design
For Design, I created a fake movie soundtrack CD cover for my narrative film, “Ready or Not, Here I Come.”

Artist statement:
This CD is based on the story of my narrative film. The film is about a mix-up of identical USBs between two high school students, Alex and Hazel, and a criminal boss and his henchmen. The USB swap forces the teenagers to become involved with the criminals, including a scary phone call and their kidnapping. The two USBs on the front of the CD case were created to look like the props me and my film partner, Gabriela used in our actual film. On the back of the case, the track names are based off of the events that happen throughout the film.
For the entire front and back of the CD case, I painted the titles, USBs, and the faint acid-wash background in Photoshop. For the different textures for the background, blood, and the titles, I used a variety of blending tools and brushes, The entire piece was hand-painted and written separately, and were then placed in a CD template in Adobe InDesign. I thought it would be interesting to create a CD case modeling for the “soundtrack” of my film, which would could pair nicely with the movie poster for my film that Gabriela created. I am pretty content with my work, however I do wish that the rusted/washed background would be a bit more apparent printed. Blending the white and blacks less could easily solve this problem.

Film
Currently, my narrative 2 film is still in the works, but here is the trailer for it so far!
