The purpose of the the Narrative project was to learn how to tell a story. We used different types of storytelling methods such as writing, drawing, and animating to experience the different ways of telling a story.

We began by writing a 55 fiction in English - a story that only had 55 words. This activity taught us how to tell a story and be as concise as possible. Later, we wrote two flash fictions, one of which we chose to be our basis of the rest of our projects. We then wrote a screenplay and drew a graphic novel based on our short story. Then, in Design, we composed character portraits. After learning how to use the lighting equipment in the studio, we used models, props, and lighting techniques to portray our character in a moment in our story. We also used Storyboard 6 to create a storyboard that was also based on our story. This allowed us to plan character movements and camera angles and panning in our animatic and animations. Finally in Web Audio, we created animatics using the panels from our graphic novels. Similar to storyboarding, the animatic was useful for figuring out camera panning as well as sound effects and dialogue. The culmination of all this was our animation. In class, we learned how to use many different tools to create our animations. All of these are now on this website that I created to showcase everything I did during this unit. On my other pages, you can read my short story, see my graphic novel and character portrait, and watch my animatic and animation.

This Narrative Project taught me more about telling a story through different medias. In this case it was through writing, photography, and animation. Not only did I learn how to convey a story through writing better, I also learned how to use the lighting equipment in the studio as well as new lighting techniques in both the studio and Photoshop. I also learned how to use the different tools in Flash to create a successful animation such as the bone tool, fading in and out, and motion tweens.
