Introduction

For the Conceptual Project, we were challenged to answer the question:

How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?
This project challenged us to go out of our comfort zones by expressing ourselves through making music, videos, films, and experimental photography. We were taught to use many sorts of advanced technological devices such as our DSLR Cameras, our Tascam audio recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and WordPress so that we could fully express ourselves.

This unit assisted me in challenging myself as a more creative individual, specifically in how I think of abstract ways of expressing myself without the need for words. In the English class, working on the SFMOMA project, I had to think of something that may look simple at first glance, then think of how I would apply emotions based on what I think the artist was trying to get across, and then think deeper into the meaning of the work. In Digital Media, I learned how to utilize our Adobe skills, and how to utilize the technology that is provided for us, such as our cameras and voice recorders, to create and share our ideas. This experience has helped me grow as a more creative individual and as a more thoughtful individual.

Design

In Design we learn how different objects can tell a story. We use photography to tell that story, so to do that we went out and took photos then edited them in Photoshop to put filters on the photos and crop them to make it look better. The projects that we worked on that include these skills were “Alpha Name Photography” and “Conceptual Photos”. In our elective design we use many programs to help us prepare for our future career.
