The latest project of Digital Media is Multi-Layered art. Multi-Layered Art involve in create a piece where multiple layer of wood is stack on top of each other to create a 3d effect on 2d art piece. With multiple layer of wood, the art piece create a sense of depths.
The inspiration for my piece is my dad’s collection of watches. My dad saw this project and came up with the idea – make a skeleton watch as my multi-layered art. I was alway like a skeleton watch with layered gears. The layer gear tells the viewer that no matter how busy one looks, there is time that can be freed up by breaking tasks into smaller ones like how the project can be broken down into multiple layers.
I learn how to visualize this 3d art physically though different means such as buying actual gears or use color to see the negative and positive steps. Through this project, I think I am better at understanding layers and how to visualize 3d art. I value this experience because I was able to complete a project that I thought at first would be too ambitious.
