I like to show to two project that I am proud of during my time in freestyle. The projects are the Zenith Project and the multi-layered wood project. Multi-layered Art involve in create a piece where multiple layer of wood is stack on top of each other to create a 3d effect on 2d art piece. With multiple layer of wood, the art piece create a sense of depths.

 

I decided to design a clock for this project because my podcast is about procrastination and my dad collect watches. One of the solution for procrastination is time management. A clock is related to time. I wanted gear design in the clock because it would be a cool appearance with the muti-layer effect. I also pushed myself to make it functional as well. I design the clock to maximize the amount of gear that can be viewed from the front. A laser will cut out the individual wooden layer and then it will be glued together at the end. I made a slot in the middle to fit the clock mechanism in the center of this clock.

 

My other project is the Zenith project. My Zenith project is consist of designing a makeup restaurant’s menu, logo and takeout box. I also design a website about the Momo Sushi restaurant. The website also support a charity. Please check out the website:

I wanted a menu that based on Japanese and Chinese Food. The color theme of the menu is based on the Japanese flower – Momo flower which is pink flower. Since the name of the restaurant is Momo Sushi, there are going to be sushi in the restaurant.  I keep this in mind when I designed the logo of the restaurant. The design of the logo is a sushi in the center of the mono flower. I also wanted to keep it simple. I took a lot of time research the existing takeout box  design. I decided to have the top to be a transparent layer, so the buyer can see the sushi and food inside. The brown color show that the box is made of unbleached paper materials.

For both of these assignments, I have improved and learn something from it. For the muti-layer wood art, I learn how design in a three dimensional format instead of two. I learn how to property visualize the 3d object by having other ways to see it such as buying mini-gears. I apply it to the Zenith project, where design the digital file of the takeout box to be printable and able to assemble into 3d box. This way I can properly see the 3d the object. On the other hand, the Zenith project have reinforce and further my skill set such as photography and design. This project would be something that I could be doing for future work or creative project. I now know how to use adobe software and how to design something that I would actually design for work.

As digital artist, I have improve on many aspect like how to work on project and follow through with a tight time schedule. In freestyle, I learn about how to design in general like designing a book or a menu. I also learn how to edit a video and some website design. Many of these concept and techniques is brand new to me before I enter freestyle like photography and design. I already I wanted design to be my future direction. I feel like freestyle help me on the path and make me well rounded on the digital skill set.
