Close up of a red rose
f 2.971, 1/320, 24 mm, ISO 100

Through this photo, I wanted to tell the story of a flower emerging from darkness and becoming something bright and beautiful. Even though the rose is alone and surrounded by shadows, it is still able to bloom into a vibrant flower. Through composing this image, I not only learned more about how to frame and shoot a photograph, but also how editing can strengthen the story behind it. By using blend modes during the editing process, I was able to enhance the contrast between the darkness and the rose, helping emphasize the idea of beauty and growth emerging from difficult surroundings.
