For the Senior Music Recording project, me and my group partner learnt how to be the audio engineer in Freestyle’s recording studio. It required finding and collaborating with local musicians and booking an appointment on the freestyle website, and polishing and cutting the takes on protools.

This is Serene Khan, a current MTV sophomore and our singer for this project. I first met her through theater and I reached out to her to collaborate.
This is Santiago Castillo, also a current MTV sophomore and our electric guitarist for this project. We met through summer camp volunteering.

This is me and Mao, Mao is the one on the left, we know each other from film and Mao asked if we could worked together since we’re both first year seniors and he knew that I’ve tried music compositing before.

Final Reflection: I working on this project being having an opportunity to enter the studio and use protools for the first time. It was a bit nerve racking trying a project like this with so much self direction and initiative. As I continued working, it became easier to navigate protools and decide which takes to keep. This experience helped me build confidence in a studio and in music and also gave me a better appreciation for the technical and creative effort that goes into audio work.
