Introduction:
Our final unit for English was our humor unit. Our prerequisite for it was reading Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse 9 as he used tons of humor techniques to tell an anti-war novel with humor injected in-between. I decided to do a parody commercial for a sleeping pill
My Process and Inspirations:
I had one goal in mind: Be Funny. So I did research into people that I personally found funny such as Zach Hadel and Alan Resnick who are prominent comedic youtubers. But also doing research on comedians that other people liked such as Bo Burnham and more. This was to get into the idea of making something that would make me laugh but also others.
In a fun throwback, I had to use Sony Vegas as my editing software as Premiere did not want to work on my computer. It was really fun implementing skills I learned this year with a tool I used when I was a freshman!
The Production/Final Product!
Reflection:
I really enjoyed this project and might be my fondest memory at my short time at Freestyle. It was fun planning and I had a great time at the Humor Celebration where we watched all the productions. My own criticism for myself was that I definitely could have created an even better product if I did make/shoot the video much earlier.
