I am Jaz Livnat, a film student, athlete, brother, son, friend, and much more. I believe that who you are is defined by how you see yourself rather than what people think or see of you. I see myself as someone who enjoys making connections with other people, someone who is able to express myself how I like, and most importantly confident with who I am.
Other than academics, at school I’m apart of both the water polo and wrestling teams . Outside of school I find myself being heavily inspired by music which has found a way to creep into most of my hobbies. I have been spending some time learning how to mix music and DJ practicing downtown on weekends when the clubs close in front of a taco stand. I have always had an affection for music and learned how to play the drums throughout middle school which gave me a good basis of tempo and rhythm. Music has had a large impact on my life and is definitely something I will keep pursuing as a hobby when I have the time to do so. Other than doing well academically, this school year I would like to spend more time pursuing my hobbies and taking them to the next level. At Freestyle, I would like to have the skills to give me confidence when using my camera. Currently I am struggling with all the camera settings and figuring out how I would like my shots to look so improving there is a goal of mine.
Art Reflection
At the start of every year at freestyle we all take a trip to the MOMA. We were supposed to take a picture of an artwork that makes us feel awed. We had some different words we could use to guide our time at the museum. We ended up writing short pieces about the art we chose and I chose “The Visitors”, It was an impressive artwork that immerses the viewer in the room. Although we were instructed to take a picture, the artwork I chose deserves more as it was not entirely visual and could not be captured within a single photo.
