For our design illustrations, we were given the task to symbollically portray a scene from our animations or english stories; through the use of symbols, colors, and typography. My scene was about how my character's conscience ironically pursuades my character in a negative manner.

In my narrative illustration, I chose to portray a scene from my animation. This scene deals with the conflict between making good and bad decisions; it questions the idea that one’s conscience is always right. In the scene, the main character, is being talked out of doing a somewhat immoral task of eating some honey out of the jar while his mother is away. The point of this scene, is that if the main character never takes risks such as taking some honey, or defying his conscience in any other way, than he will never get to experience the reward associated with the risk.

In my animation, this is portrayed through the character in the center, being controlled by the conscience inside of his head, pulling the marionette strings that control him, and his body, and consequently making all the decisions for him; the character does not even have a mouth, and has bags under his eyes, emphasizing his resulting exhaustion and misery. Furthermore, the character is miserable, wet, and standing under raining clouds; he can easily move to the left to where the sun is shining, but his conscience is forcing him to water the plants instead, while the conscience is utilising the characters hair as an umbrella. The conscience’s halo is also grey, and much darker than the rest of his image; showing the dark side to is recommendations. The watering can, that the character is using to water the flowers, is expelling a foul brown liquid; showing that neither he, nor the plants, are benefiting from the ‘good’ actions his conscience is forcing him into doing, consequently showing that the conscience’s intentions are fallible.
