The Cube houses of Rotterdam

This is honestly one of the best photos I’ve ever taken. It was taken two years ago when I was in The Netherlands with my family. I had just started to get into photography that year when all I really had was my phone camera and occasionally an online editing program called Pixlr. This photo is of the Cube Houses in Rotterdam. These house are a weird topsy turvy mess that kind of make your eyes hurt if you look at them for too long. To this day, I’ve never seen architecture as cool. My favorite type of landscape photography is urban landscapes. As beautiful as nature can be, I’ve always felt more connected to busy cities and tall buildings. This photo is great because of how symmetrical and asymmetrical it is at the same time. You have these perfectly designed buildings that mirror each other almost exactly, but then you see the tree and the lamp post, and even the tall apartment building in the background. To me, it was just a natural pick for this category.
