Introduction:

Welcome to my showcase page. My name is Lucas Shi. I am a film student at Freestyle Academy. I am presenting my Reflections Video/Essay that I made in Film. I am pleased to show you some of my work I’ve done during my time here at Freestyle.

Showcase Video:

In this showcase video, I present my short film about my event in track and field called the “triple jump.” It was an intense event to compete in, so I decided to use slow motion at some parts to capture the feeling. I showcase some of the process behind the film and what I was proud of.

I went into this project with basically no prior filmmaking experience. I was unable to obtain any actors and wrote, acted, and filmed in this all on my own, excluding a few wide shots my dad helped me with. I’m glad I went through the experience because it helped me figure out what I was missing before I went into more complex and time consuming projects.

Showcase Reel:

Here is a highlight reel of some of my best work I have made here at Freestyle. It includes portions of my films that I have worked on here and also some portfolio art pieces I made when applying for colleges.

Reflection:

I’m happy with what I’ve worked on here. There is much to improve and I’ve gained important teamwork and organization skills that I can apply outside of film and the arts. Thank you for taking the time to review my work.
