For our color theory prompts, I took a picture of a red flower with its green leaves in the background. This make the red flower pop out more because red contrasts with green. Similarly, I got up really close to the flower to make sure that it took up the majority of the frame space, really showing that the flower […]
Gratitude
For “Gratitude” I decide to take a picture of these mushrooms that started growing in the cool shade of December. They are attached to a large tree and have a friendly bit of moss as their neighbor. Little things like these can sometimes bring me more joy than something with a large or with a big presence.
Fill the Frame
The prompt for this photo was, “fill the frame” meaning that we had to fill the photo with the same subject, patter, or color. For this photo I decided to take a picture of a succulent near the entrance to my house. This fills the frame with the same color, pattern, and subject all at once. I used a really […]
Geometry
For this prompt I used the geometry of the benches at my elementary school. I found it interesting because they were at different heights and had slightly different textures, they looked like they were different shades even though they were all made out of the same metal.
Angles
For this week, we were tasked with using angles in our photography. Originally I was just going to used angles to take a picture of a tree, but I found this crow in the tree right next to me, so I decide to take a picture of it instead. I had to edit the photo so that both the crow […]
Rule of Odds
For this challenge, we had to use the “rule of odds” which states that it is often better to have an odd number of objects, instead of an even number of objects, in a photo. I now understand why ever cartoon depicting a bird’s nest always has three eggs, because it tends to look better and feel more balanced. To […]
Negative Space
For this photo we had to fill the majority of the photo with empty space, in order to highlight the subject. Of course I took this oppurtunity to take a picture of my birds.
Center Frame Portrait
The prompt for this photo was to isolate a subject by putting them in the center of a frame. This shot is of my sister standing at the edge of a view from a hike. She looks out into the distance feeling accomplished of what she has complete so far.
Balance in Holiday Traditions
The prompt for this photo was balance in holiday traditions. Interpreted this as showing one of the holiday traditions that my family has. We always drive up this road to reach the Christmas Tree lot where we can cut down the tree ourselves. We would play a game where before the trip stats we would guess the number of Christmas […]
Leading Lines
The prompt of this photo was “use leading lines to show the concept of infinity”. I knew that I could easily use a gate or floorboards to make leading lines, but I really wanted to do something else. I eventually gave up and took a photo in my elementary school garden, but as I was leaving I realized that the […]
