This was a photo from one of the practice shots I wanted to do but forgot we only had 4 weeks so I had to scrap it. I will continue making stop motions later on…

Shooting

Shooting was so much fun yet so stressful at the same time. Compared to the last stop motion. (explorations) I thought using a green screen and then importing a background was a good idea but honestly didn’t work. BUT compared to how I shot this animation. Its way better because I think using the green screen is a bad idea. I shot every shot at home and spent most of my time in class editing photos. Thought it was a good idea. It was but really time consuming. Should’ve planned the timeline way better.

Because of how slow my computer is at home, I focused on editing the clips in school and shooting at home because its a better background. I used a lot of different things so I can make the film more “accurate”. I used napkins and tissues for smoke and dust. I had turned off and on the lights for better lights. I bought a light with different colors to add more emphasize of different shots. At the end of the day. It worked out for sure.

Adobe Lightroom

Lightroom was mainly used for all the editing of the shots because they would look pretty bland a dry. I didn’t want the washed look so that’s why I edited every shot (it was so long) I made presets for how I wanted to make every shot look and once I found out how I wanted it, I used each preset for all the different shots but first I had to denoise the shots because they were pretty grainy then applied the preset I had made for the different shots and then exported.

Editing the photos with Lightroom wanted to denoise the image first then added a preset I had made for the images

Adobe Photoshop

I used Photoshop for mainly all the impact frames. This part was the easier part because impact frames are just basically scribbles. Some (the explosion impact frames) look really low effort but thats because by itself, the frames don’t seem like nothing but when put into a sequence it makes a lot more sense.

Its pretty nice to see and in the actual stop motion I looks pretty nice for what it is (even though you see it for like a second)

This one is one of my favorites because of how accurate it looks to a actual impact frame

After Effects

After Effects was the main thing used other than the camera itself. The process of using After Effects is pretty easy its just annoying but I had fun editing the animation. I used it for adding SFX and Music and obviously putting it all together. The outro music I used was Ladders instrumental by Mac Miler on the Swimmings Album (really good album check it out) and as for the fight scene itself I used the

At first I didn’t know if I wanted to add SFX or music but when I finished the the layout of how I wanted it to be, I thought that music and SFX would’ve added more to it. But because of how long the film was I had to finish and export the film with just images first then import it into a second file a add SFX and music so it wouldn’t be so much.

Final :0

This is the Zenith presentation. This is where I went more in depth about the final stop motion product. Its not as in depth as this website right here but its a presentation so if you want to watch it by all means. Don’t recommend it.

Final Product

In the end, it turned out good. I think I could greatly improve it more but I will work a lot more in the future. Stop Motion is really fun but very time consuming. I will add a lot more frames so that it can be a lot smoother. Adding the impact frames really made it look more animated and that’s the look I was going for which is really nice. I love making stop motion fight scenes and so making this was a blast. Using a reference would definitely be a big help but when you compare this to my exploration project from last year, I think it’s a big improvement. Explorations was basically helping me to get down the basics of what I will be doing for zenith. Although I didn’t go through with the continuation of the “Doomsday” fight scene but I’m happy with how this one turned out even if it wasn’t the original plan.
