The Zenith project represented a turning point—an opportunity for complete creative freedom. It’s been an exciting journey, allowing me to explore new passions and interests. By definition, “zenith” means the peak of power or success, and after two years at Freestyle honing a wide range of skills, I believe this name perfectly captures the essence of the project.
For my Zenith project I decided to explore the path of making a sports edit. Sports have always been a big part of my life, so when it came time to choose a Zenith project, I knew I wanted to focus on something I was genuinely passionate about—sports. In fact, one of the main reasons I got into film in the first place was because I was inspired by the sports edits I saw on social media. I ultimatley decided on making a lacrosse edit and a baseball edit since those two sports are the easiest to film during the spring sports season.
Getting Started
My planning consisted of:
Step 1: Contact Lacrosse coach for permission to film team on their field

Step 2: Make shot list and research types of shots for sports edits
Step 3: Start filming first round of dallies
Step 4: Film 2nd round of dallies for 2nd sports edit
Step 5: Sort through clips and organize media
step 6: Research basic visual effects and techniques to include in sports edits

step 7: Edit the footage
Step 8: Review final products!

Reflection:
Making these sports edits for my final project at Freestyle Academy was extremely rewarding, I value the amount of creative freedom we were given with the Zenith project. I faced challenges with time management and editing throughout the project. I remember having only one week left to finish the baseball edit because I had spent too much time perfecting the lacrosse one. As a result, I had to rush through the baseball segment, cramming four hours of filming and editing into a single day just to get it done. However overall, this project has been one that I came to class excited to work on each day, I found myself truly invested in the work I was doing. This was a great way to cap off our time here at Freestyle Academy!
