My product is an energy drink called Kickstart Energy, designed to represent power, hydration, and an active lifestyle. The logo features a bold lightning bolt inside a droplet, combining the concepts of energy and refreshment into one simple but dynamic design. I chose to create an energy drink because it appeals to a broad audience, including athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and busy individuals who need a boost to “kickstart” their day. Energy drinks are highly relevant in today’s fast-paced world, and I wanted to design a product that not only looks bold and exciting but also connects with those seeking motivation and focus. The bright yellow and blue colors reinforce a sense of energy, vibrancy, and trustworthiness, making the product both eye-catching and memorable.
To create the logo, I used Adobe Illustrator, focusing on bold lines, clean shapes, and a color scheme that would stand out across different products. After finalizing the design, I used PlaceIt to apply the logo to mockups, including an energy drink can, a shaker bottle, and a trucker hat, to demonstrate how the branding works on promotional materials. Once I had the product mockups, I brought them together into a cohesive triptych using Adobe Photoshop. I carefully chose background colors for each image to ensure they complemented one another and highlighted the product effectively. One challenge I faced was ensuring the logo looked natural on curved surfaces, particularly on the energy drink can, but I resolved this by carefully adjusting the perspective and proportions of the design. By balancing color, composition, and placement, I was able to create a professional and realistic triptych that showcases Kickstart Energy as a strong, marketable brand.
The Lost Horizon tells the story of a young boy named Kiran who lives in a world where the sky weeps but never stops raining. In this dystopian society, people have forgotten the warmth of the sun, and the world has become bleak and colorless. Kiran, however, holds onto a legend passed down through generations—that there is a lost horizon beyond the mountains where the sun still shines. One night, he ventures out and raises a fragile flower toward the sky, believing it can absorb the falling rain and bloom into a symbol of hope. The scene depicted in my poster captures this pivotal moment when Kiran, standing on a hill, reaches toward the sky with the lone flower in his hand, defying the endless storm around him.
To create my poster, I used digital design software, specifically Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, to craft the composition. I started by sketching out the silhouette of Kiran, ensuring his posture conveyed both resilience and longing. The dark, muted background contrasts with the bright flower, emphasizing its significance as a beacon of hope. The raindrops, scattered across the top, add movement and reinforce the world’s melancholic atmosphere. I chose a medieval-style font for the title to evoke a sense of myth and lost history, aligning with the story’s themes. The overall color palette of deep blues and purples enhances the tone of mystery and sadness, while the minimalistic approach keeps the focus on the central figure.
Through this process, I learned how to use visual storytelling to evoke emotions and convey deeper themes. I developed a stronger understanding of composition, contrast, and typography in poster design. Additionally, I grew in my ability to communicate a narrative visually, ensuring that every element of the poster contributed to the story’s mood and meaning. This project challenged me to think critically about how design choices impact perception, and it reinforced the importance of iteration and refinement in the creative process. Ultimately, this experience has deepened my appreciation for graphic design as a powerful tool for storytelling.
