Reflections

The question “Who Am I?” was the main topic of discussion for the Reflection unit. We explored the incorporation of personal elements into our creative work, through English, Digital Media, and Film assignments. The Mandala project, introduced new skills to me which helped in utilizing softwares like Adobe After Effects. In our English class, we crafted a College Essay detailing our personal experiences. This assignment helped me reflect a lot on my personal experiences and how they have all shaped who I am today. Lastly, Film class showed me how much I love working in motivated and collaborative environments. Before coming to Freestyle, I had assumed no one else was interested in filmmaking in Mountain View. Because of Film class, I’ve found people who are just as passionate about it as me.

Mandala Project

This project was especially cool since the designs we did in After Affects came to real life through any object we chose. For my mandala, I wanted to be able to serve food on an object with it, since I love cooking. This is my mandala laser engraved into a pizza board. The attention to details was at the time tedious, but the results made it all worth it.

Video Essay

This was a project in film where we had two minutes to create a short video about us. I chose a more narrative route for mine and decided to talk about my fear of the ocean. This was one of my favorite assignment, and it was very cool to watch other people’s and learn more about them.

Personal Essay

This essay took a lot out of me and I got to discover so many new things about myself while writing it, which was incredible. I chose to take the traditional essay style and turn it into “Acts” of a movie since filmmaking is a huge passion of mine. I wrote about a personal story that happened fairly recently but re-living it while writing and reflecting on the details was very interesting.
