Intro

Hello 🙂 My name is Victoria Florian (Tori for short) and I’m a Film Student at Freestyle Academy. Over the course of two years, I grew a huge amount of respect for anyone in the film industry/into film. It is a lot more work and creativity. I always expected it to be the ultimate art form because you can include any medium, and I was right.

“Good Film Makers Are Good Manipulators”

One of the many things that Mr. Taylor has constantly told our class (other than “Time is money”) that good film makers are good manipulators. Now, it may not sound like a good thing to be interested in, but I was ready to nose dive into it after that. I’ve always found it really interesting how any piece of art, no matter what it is, can affect how you feel. I never understood how, but I apparently got the concept of it and it was lighting for film.

Junior Year

Junior Documentary: Hair on the Road
Junior Narrative: New Year, New Me
Junior Narrative: New Year, New Me
Chase Scene

As you can see, the lighting for some of these is questionable. Junior year me only really knew that warm lighting is for inside and cool lighting is sort of unwelcoming. And for some reason, Junior year me also loved shooting at night (except for my documentary), so I had to work through the difficulties of touching a camera for the first few times and learning to shoot at night without it looking terrible. This collection of stills came from my Junior Narrative, Chase Scene, and Junior Documentary, which you can click if you would like to watch them!

Zenith

These slides/pictures are from my Zenith Project in which I tasked myself to mimic famous shots from movies. Hopefully there’s a difference between Junior year and Senior year because I did a lot more studying on lights and how they work and I also touched up my knowledge of color correcting.
