Narrative Synopsis

This is my synopsis for the film. These were very early stages of our brainstorming, so the plot is not perfect. The synopsis allows you to see how our film blossomed into its final form.

Narrative Screenplay

This is a link to my narrative screenplay. This was the moment our film started to become visualized and felt more real. HERE.

Shot List

This is our shot list for our first two scenes. It contains the type of shot, the subject, where it will be filmed, and all the information needed to make the actual filming process easier.

When Life Gives You Lemonade

Lyrical Essay

You wake up, like you do, like everyone does, in the morning.  You start your daily morning routine with a shower, a place to be yourself, then a trip downstairs for breakfast.  You gather your work from last night, stuff it in your backpack, and get ready to leave the house. Through a crack in the curtains, you see water drizzle down the window sill.  Rain. Water. You grab your umbrella and head out the door. You hear the water patter on the umbrella. You are dry.

You get into your blacked out Mercedes, sit on the leather seat and let the engine pur.  You continue your daily routine and follow the same path you take everyday to get to school.  A light shines red on your face. Rain continues to soak your car. The windshield wipers help you see clearly.  You look to your left to see a set of eyes staring at you. This face is red, but not from the light. They wear a mask of anger, behind it is fear.  Eye contact is made and they turn to stone as if they are staring into Medusa’s gaze. Instantaneously they look away, but now you’re the one staring.  You can tell they are uncomfortable. Tapping their fingers, averting all visual recognition. They are avoiding even the slightest notion in your direction.

Why?

Because they are scared of you.  They don’t like who you are. They don’t know who you are, but they know who your people are.  And they are scared of your people. So they don’t like who you are. Even though they don’t know who you are.  A light shines yellow on your face. This is not a part of your daily routine.

Or is it?

A flash flood of thoughts rush your brain.  You have the ability to run fast and jump high, yet your saturated steps weigh you down. You’re so athletic.  You’re an intellectual. But you can only brand yourself with one. Drowning in yourself, drenched in confusion.  You don’t know who you are. You are a Shape-Sorter, yet your circles fit in squares. You are a Ying Yang but have been painted black.  You are a human inside of a fish tank. You can’t see out your windows, but everyone can see in. You arrive at school, like you do, like everyone does, with a waterlogged mind.  This is your daily routine.

A song I made with a fellow Freestyle creator. The first beat I rap over is a beat we found on youtube. But the adlibs, rap, and the mastering was done by us. The second beat was created in Reason.

This is a Mandala we created in Adobe Illustrator. We then used a 3D printer to engrave a wooden block with our image. I also made a colored version pictured below. The process video is shown as well.
