Narrative 1

Narrative is a lot. You make stories, music, and illustrations. In digital media, one project you make is something physical of your choosing, and making design for and, and getting to take it home afterwords. then there is parody production, where my group got to parody a song of our choice. It was so much fun. I value all of these expierences and cannot wait to see what gets made next year.

Flash Fiction

What is it? to simply put it, flash fiction is a short story that builds a story that the reader will care about using characters, setting and descriptive details.

My inspiration for my flash fiction is myself. i have had experiences in which tell very interesting stories, and used myself as a basis for my character and world.

For the audio, i used a program called pro tools in order to record my audio using the recoring booths within the digital media room. these booths are small, but packed with insulation and a high quality recording setup, to make your voice sound the best it can.

How to be funny? (Short story production)

My artist’s statement: I wanted to write something that i felt like ayone could read, using as confusing words as possible. I think that the story felt more like a conversation or a window rather than a piece of ficiton. This story to me is more of a reflection upon myself, with a few details added in to spice things up, and to make it not as similar to me.

Freestyle Academy · Story by TylerS (2026)

Heres the transcript of the story for you deaf or hard of hearing.

What if someone who wants to be funny tried to be funny in front of people, but then the audience is not amused, and he is laughed off stage? What if he did not achieve his goal? This story starts off with a young man of 17 years of age, performing comedy on stage. At the start, he walks out onto the stage, looks into the audience, and tells his first joke. “Did you guys know John Cheever, the overachiever? Well, he died.” Nobody laughs. Wyler then begins to sweat, and starts to think that he is regretting signing up for this show. He starts remembering the steps he took to get to the gig. I’m gonna go into depth about being nervous on stage in front of a crowd that he cannot see. He is looking into the audience, seeing nothing but a black shadow full of silhouettes. He tries to make jokes throughout the rest of the show. He is sweating buckets because of how quiet the audience is. His limbs quivering, thumbs going numb, he cant think straight. Eventually, the stage director brings in a backup comedian, and he signals Wyler to get off stage. He begins to berate Wyler, but he was so nervous that he could not understand anything he was saying. He looked at the stage director; he could barely see through his own eyes, full to the brim with tears. Eventually, without understanding a single word, Wyler just left his office and went home.

Wyler went up to his room and, with tears still in his eyes, started running up the stairs into his room before his parents could even notice. He tries his best to look normal, but is a total screw-up in his bedroom before someone sees him. He puts on a long-sleeve jacket and a winter beanie. His mom comes up to see him and to talk about how well the comedy show went. He puts on a metaphorical mask and says that it went fine, and the normal guy came on early. She notices that he is hiding something, but decides not to pursue it. He rolls back into bed, letting more tears flow down his face into his pillow. He thinks a lot, like a lot a lot. About many things, “Should I go back? Should I try again?” and all this complex thinking makes him want to puke, and he begins crying again. Wyler begins staring at the ceiling, thoughts are zooming, he could see them darting across his view, as if they were mosquitoes.

He opens up his phone and plugs it into his portable phone charger. He starts watching his phone, watching it intensely; the screen is bright, almost blinding. He watches some gaming, anime, theory crafting videos, and then he stumbles upon a video from a guy who plays video games for fun. The video is amusing, giving Wyler something to smile about while he drifts between sleep and awake.

He woke up, noticing that the same guy was still on his phone, playing video games, but Wyler was still smiling; he felt happy. Then he realized that it was a Saturday morning and there was no homework and nothing to do, so Wyler did what he does best: he played video games. He joined a group call with some of his friends. He has many friends, with many different backgrounds and experiences, some from his school, and some from his video games. He joins them on a survival game called Reforge, Wyler’s favorite. While doing this, his friends are trying to talk about their days and plans for the weekend. And Wyler joins the conversation with a joke. Specifically, he says that he thinks that Ryan is stupid, but with a British accent, and everyone is laughing. Even Ryan, and the joke’s on him. Wyler begins to regain some self-esteem that he lost the previous night.

And he began thinking about that guy on his phone, he looked at his phone, and saw his reflection, and then it hit him, though what if he did that. What if he made gaming videos for people like him to smile at? What if he made videos to cheer up that kid who was bullied at school, who failed that important test, someone who had been given heartbreaking news? He wanted to be someone who was there to put a smile on everyone’s face, but could not handle the pressure of audiences watching as he was put outside his comfort zone.

He looked at his keyboard, downloaded some software, picked up his controller, and pressed record.

Heres a BTS(short for behind the scenes) look at the audio production for this story! Gauwk in its amazment.

Illustrations shown below were all made with within Adobe Illustrator and were used as designs for certain things, such as a tumbler bottle or art cover for other media

This is my Exquisite corps, i did the middle bit where it says freestyle rocks, The other bits were done by other people (Jaxen L on the left, Ronan E on the right) without knowing what each of us were drawing.

This is my short story Album Art. I made it in illustrator using skills i learned in digital media. basically it is a depiction of the first sentances of the story.

This is my illustrator choice project. We had a massive amount of options ot choose from for what to put the design on. And boy there is a lot. i chose a tumbler because i wanted something to hold my mac and cheese in. (iykyk) Other options included shirts, jackets, mugs, glassware, standees, stickers and more.

heres the full design, just not on the cup, the text is in french, and it says:

“Its not over until i win”

Here is my artists statment for the project.

What I value about using illustrator as opposed to photoshop for image creation is the method of upscaling it uses. In other words, it makes the process of making an image bigger and easier and better than in photoshop. Illustrator uses vectors for every single line and thing you use put within it, or in other words, it uses math to make the lines you draw. This allows the image to be easily scalable without the loss of quality or data.

I chose to create a tumbler because I wanted something more practical that I could call my own. For the design I wanted originally to make something more related to some media that I enjoy a lot. However, I soon realized that what I wanted to do was too big and too out of my league in skill and time commitment. I decided on something more simple and something that I feel comfortable in knowing that I made for myself. My inspiration came from my favorite colors, and the quote is one that lives by me, except the quote is in french because it felt more like me.

Working on this project has definitely made me appreciate graphic designers and students in the design class. I think that making art is difficult and making art that also means something to the artist is even harder. Overall, I’m proud of my work and that I’m glad that I had the opportunity to create something for myself.

There is two music projects: Music Recording and Experimental music.

Music recording is

Reflection: Using ProTools in order to make the music for Drumroll… Please was very fun. i felt in the zone and like i wish i could spend more time on it, getting absolutly all the time in the world to make something that like you can feel without actually feeling it.

In film, we make movies n stuff, but in order to make them, we need to know what makes movies good. after learning about how to make movies, were we challenged to make a narrative film with a story and using no dialog from the characters.

Griffith’s Pattern

basically its the first couple of shots that lead up to the characters and the action, things like landscapes, shots of buildings, things to give context to the viewer

Suspense Scene

basically practicing builiding suspense and telling the viewer something the characters dont know. its like a rollercoaster from the luxury of your home or theatre.

Chase Scene

your typical chase scene, where you have a character running for whatever reason. shoutout aj for the help

Narrative Sysnopsis

basically what our narrative is about. i worked on this project with AJ and Oscar.

Paper Airplane

A character named Bob (placeholder name) is very lonely. Dreams of one day becoming rich. While doing homework one day he gets bored and turns his paper into a paper airplane and starts flying it. He flies the plane all the way to a more crowded city and he runs into someone, Joe, and he’s into paper airplanes as well. They start playing a game of Chase The Airplane. Quickly become best friends. Make their way back here (Bob’s original spot). Joe pulls out a poster of a paper airplane competition, and wants Bob to be his partner. Bob and Joe win the competition together and get a very large cash prize, Bob’s dream. But, the happiness is short lived, as Bob wants all of the cash to himself but Joe thinks they should split it 50-50. It escalates into a fight/brawl, and they accidentally smash their winning plane. In the thick of the fight Bob punches Joe in the face. Joe runs away and Bob is instantly sorry, considers running after him to apologize but instead looks at the large pile of cash and chooses to collect all of that instead. Back at his spot Bob is now depressed, can’t get Joe out of his head. Isn’t happy about the money. Tries to take a nap but only has bad dreams about Joe. He finds Joe in the city and tries to unsuccessfully make up with him and mend their broken friendship. He tries to play Chase The Airplane with Joe but Joe doesn’t want to. Guilty about the cash, the next day Bob finds Joe in the city and gives him all of it. Joe turns it into a paper airplane and tosses it into a nearby charity basket, not even wanting it, but he is clearly happier. Then Bob pulls out a paper airplane that he made that is a duplicate of their original winning one except with a “2.0” on it and gives that to Joe. Their friendship is back on. Joe throws the paper airplane into the air, initiating a game of Chase The Airplane, and Bob happily joins in. They run off chasing it together.

Jr narrative

working on this project was pretty coolio. Aj was the heart of the project, and he kept it going when me and Oscar didn’t want to. Huge respect for him. Filming with children is very difficult and would not recommend for a first time filmmaker
