Zenith

The Zenith Project is the final project where students have the freedom to choose what they want to create, and for mine, I decided to design a clothing collection. I was inspired by natural environments and ultimately chose to base my theme on sand dunes. The soft, flowing shapes, earthy tones, and organic textures of sand dunes really spoke to me, and I wanted to capture their beauty and simplicity through my designs.

This theme influenced everything from the color palette, such as warm beiges, soft browns, and muted golds, to the silhouettes and fabric choices that mimic the movement and layering found in desert landscapes. Creating clothing felt like a natural choice for me, as I’ve been interested in fashion and design for a while. However, this project challenged me to go beyond sketches and ideas and actually produce full garments for the first time. It was both exciting and intimidating to bring my concepts to life, but it gave me the opportunity to grow my skills and push my creativity further than I have before.

Throughout my first year in design, I’ve learned how to express my personal style and ideas more effectively. I’ve explored different tools and techniques that helped me bring my creative visions to life. One of the most valuable skills I developed was learning how to use design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. These programs allowed me to turn rough ideas into detailed visuals, making it easier to experiment with colors, shapes, and layouts.

I used these apps to create the initial designs for my Zenith Project clothing collection. Being able to digitally sketch and refine my concepts helped me plan out my pieces more clearly before moving on to the physical creation process. It was exciting to see my ideas take form on the screen and even more rewarding to bring them into the real world.

After finalizing the design I wanted, I began the production process, which turned out to be the most challenging part of the project. Translating my digital ideas into actual garments required a lot of patience, precision, and problem-solving. There were many unexpected obstacles, from selecting the right fabrics to perfecting the sewing techniques, and it tested both my skills and determination.
