My inspiration for the animation was in the short story I wrote for English class (available in the “Story” page of this site). The animation required understanding and utilizing many different tools in Flash, and is the final project of the Narrative unit.

To produce the animation, I used Flash and created backgrounds, then added in my character by drawing each frame in succession, followed by the addition of zooms, fading to black, and sound effects. Because of my ambition in animating on a more or less frame-by-frame basis, I created a lot of work for myself, which was frustrating in the end as I was rushing to finish it. I would not recommend doing that if you’re not prepared to do a lot of work outside of class. However, despite the difficulty, I think this was a valuable experience in animation and using Flash.
