Introduction
For the Conceptual Project, Juniors work towards having creative thinking and communication skills to answer the question of “How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?” This project allowed students at Freestyle to take creative risks through different media such as art, music, animation, poetry, experimental films, and web production. This project challenged us to express our opinions through unique personal aesthetics. Students at Freestyle learn how to develop their technical communication skills by using modern professional equipment and programs such as DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Avid Pro Tools, WordPress, and Google Apps.
In our Digital Media class, we were given the task to create a self-portrait without actually showing our faces. At first, I was a little confused because, well, it’s a self-portrait. I then started to think about aspects of myself that I could express with visual objects. Then I got to work, reflecting on our past lessons on how to make the best use of my DSLR camera for the photos. Despite my original confusion, the photo-taking process ended up going great, and I had a fun time doing it. For English, we were challenged to write a paragraph about what kind of writer we are. I wrote about multiple experiences I had with writing and how it overall led to my opinion regarding it.
