Humor

For this project, I was tasked to create a funny skit and or presentation that I would share with the class. This would be something that I would write the script for, act myself, and do everything individually.

This is the research that I did for English is in the pdf listed below.

PHONE SKIT

Start off the first skit by having various ways of showing myself doing work. This should go on for 15 seconds or so.

Cast: Alex(me), Mom(also me)

Alex: (THINKING) “Oh man, I finally finished all of that work. 4 hours of homework every day is exhausting, I don’t know how I end up doing this every day!”

*Picks up phone and answers snapchats*

Alex: (CONT. THINKING) “Ayy yeah wassup homie, what’s crackin. Ayee wassup girl how you doin”

*Mom enters room*

Mom: “Alex, dinner is in 5 minutes come help set u-”

*Sees Alex on his phone and proceed to flip out*

Mom: “ALEX WHAT THE PPHHHUCCC-

*Alex is visibly confused*

Alex: “What??”

*Mom is visibly distraught*

Mom: “You’re on your phone! That’s ALL YOU EVER DO! You never focus on your schoolwork or anything at all! All you do is stare at that tiny little screen. You’re such a disappointment, why can’t you be like your sisters!?”

Alex: “I just did all of my homework, I was working for like the past 4 hours straight! I *JUST* picked up my phone.”

*Mom looking even more offended*

Mom: “Did you just talk back to me?”

*Alex realizing he messed up, scrambling for words*

Alex:“No, I’m just telling you what I d-”

Mom: “No, YOU JUST TALKED BACK TO ME.”

Alex: “No I-”

Mom: “HOW DISRESPECTFUL OF YOU.”

*close up of Alex*

Alex: “Well f-”

*End skit one

Argument Skit

*At dinner table*

Mom: “Hey Alex I noticed that you have a C in film, what happened?”

Alex: “Oh it’s nothing, Mr. Taylor just hasn’t entered my new assignments ye-”

Mom: “No, I think that it’s that you never work hard enough.”

Alex: “Huh? What does that mean?”

Mom: “Take a look at yourself, you’re like the ugly duckling but you never ended up doing well. You should have ended up like your sisters if you tried harder.”

Alex: “But mom I’m not my sisters, I’m my own person.”

Mom: “You guys are related, so you must have the same abilities”

Alex: “No Mom I AM NOT MY SISTERS!”

Mom: “Were you just talking back to me?”

Alex: “Nope, I’m just pointing out the facts.”

Mom: “You need to stop being so disrespectful.”

Alex: “You literally just called me the ugly duckling that never turned out to be good.”

Mom: “Well yea? I’m your Mom and I can do what I want. You see this lightswitch?”

Alex: “Yea…”

Mom: “The lights turn on because of me. You see this roof above you? That’s because of me. Now be more respectful, you still-ugly duckling.

Alex: (Mumbling) “Yea talk about respect…)

Mom: “WHATCHU SAY BOY”

*Grabs belt and chases after Alex”

END

Completing this project, the hardest challenge that I faced was doing 100% of the work by myself. I didn’t even want my family to help me with the project because I was making fun of my mother in all of the scripts. If I showed it to her, then it would ruin the surprise of showing the project to my family would be ruined. So then I challenged myself to do the whole project by myself, even without the help of help of my family.
