Introduction
For the Conceptual Project, we were asked develop their abstract thinking and communication skills to answer the question
“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”
The unit was designed to help us explore by encouraging us to leave our comfort zones and to express our mind through our design choices. We additionally learned how to use equipment such as DSLR cameras, audio recorders, and computers, as well as software programs like the Adobe suite
Reflection
I honestly struggled a lot in this unit. The workflow and expectations at Freestyle were completely foreign to me, and I fell behind a lot as I struggled to adjust. When I applied myself a little harder, I found this unit to be very enlightening. I think I got my act together during the Parody song. I realized that getting the ball moving was the hardest part of the unit. Once that was out of the way, stringing together 1st downs wasn’t too hard.
Film
The Conceptual assignments in Film Class were the Experimental Film, the Green Screen shot, the Suspense and Chase scenes. In this unit, I learned how to edit a shot with a green screen to modify it to a different background, how to create suspense with shots, and how to film an interesting chase scene. My favorite film of this year was definitely the suspense scene because it was the first quality collaborative exercise I did this year.
Experimental film
Statement: I am exploring the feeling of suspicion through the passage of time.
Synopsis: This film focuses on repeating actions. Each cycle, something is changed that makes it slightly different compared to the last one, until the action being performed is completely nonsensical. Suspicion is built through the changing of small details throughout. It ultimately shows that change is built gradually through slow, small steps

Film exercises
Scavenger hunt: The goal of this was to learn about film by running around the school and capturing various shots, such as closeup, medium closeup, and wide shot. It also taught us how to use our time and work together as a group.
Doubles Scene: The goal of this exercise was to learn how to do a doubles effect. It’s an easily achievable and easy to execute visual effect. I learned how to set up a tripod, make a clean cut, and edit together the 2 halves seamlessly.
