This week we were asked to find inspiration from the future, and take a photograph related to that prompt. I decided to go outside and take a picture of the sun and trees in my backyard, since it was such a bright and sunny day. I feel it does give up a sense of hope, especially since it is shining through the branches. I am overall pretty satisfied with this picture.
Frame within the Frame
This week we were prompted to take a picture framing a subject with a natural frame. I took a photograph of an open window, framing it additionally with plants. I think this picture was somewhat successful in following the prompt, so I am satisfied with it. It has a lot of lines and patterns, which I think is pretty cool.
Self Portrait
This week we were challenged to follow a story telling prompt, and were supposed to take a self portrait based on what I believe others think I am. I took a photo of my reflection on a screen with the sun in my eyes. I think this is a really nice picture and reflects what I think others see in me, which is a observant, quiet, reflective person, since that is really I how present myself in public. I like the highlighting of the sun in my eyes and the blurriness of the picture, as I think those two aspects add a nice touch.
Food
This week we were challenged to be inspired by food, so I took a photo of my meal. My dinner consisted of macaroni and cheese, orso pasta, parmesan chicken, and bread, which tasted excellent, and I’m grateful that my family was able to cook this. It even looks appetizing, and I think it fits the prompt.
Using Props
This week we were prompted to take a picture using props to make our photo look interesting, and use composition to bring it all together. I went to our backyard and picked up some leaves. Using some examples that were given to us, I held the leaves up to the camera while taking a picture. I think the image is successful in giving it a three dimensional feel, and I am pretty satisfied with the composition of it.
Storms
I took this picture I while back when it was rainy, and I think it turned out good and it fit well for the challenge of storms. We were asked to use storytelling with this prompt and I think this fits the calm after the storm sort of narrative. There is a calm and serenity, a peace that comes from the image and I’m really happy with it.
Current Events
This week’s challenge we were asked to use current events as inspiration for our photograph. I took a picture of my Mac computer set up in my home. Due to the recent events regarding Coronavirus, schools are canceled for the following weeks and we are asked to work from home. I have been using the Mac I have borrowed from Freestyle since the beginning of my Junior year, and it has come in handy. It’s taking some adjustment to the new schedule, but I am getting used to being in quarantine and I am grateful to be healthy with the amount of resources I have access to at home.
This week we were challenged to use composition aspects to take a photo utilizing depth of field, and making an object seem like a part of a greater whole. I struggled with the prompt a bit and wasn’t sure what to do, so I took a picture of a pot with plants and tried to use depth of field to make it look like it was part of the background. I think it turned out okay, and I feel like I used composition pretty effectively.
Deadly Sins
This week we were challenged to use a story telling element in portraying one of the seven deadly sins. I tried to encapsulate the sentiment of sloth, and so I took a picture of my unmade bed with the pillows placed haphazardly. I think I did okay with this challenge, and was able to show the spirit of sloth with the photograph that I took.
Musical
This week we were challenged to have music inspire us and use that in a photograph. I like to play the keyboard occasionally, though I am far from a professional and do it for fun, though I haven’t practiced lately. I added headphones to the photo because music is pretty personal for me and I feel like the headphones helps symbolize that. Overall I think this image does a good job at portraying the inspiration I feel from music.
