Hello, and welcome to my website! My name is Avery, and I was a student at Freestyle Academy from 2018-2020. The classes I took were Design, Digital Media, and English. I chose to enroll at Freestyle because I wanted to develop my creative abilities in an encouraging and supportive environment. I also wanted to challenge myself artistically, to see if I could somehow combine my STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and arts skillsets. I loved learning from my teachers and peers as well as the effusive enthusiasm from everyone.
Keeping my thoughts going keeps me happy! In my spare time, I usually am playing classical piano, photographing cool architecture, or brushing up my foreign language skills. My favorite composer is Fryderyk Chopin – it is quite the exercise to sight read his music. I was involved with the Space Cookies FRC Team 1868, where I worked on programming as well as computer-aided design (CAD); both programming and CAD can be used for creative ventures. I like discovering and developing skills that mesh technological as well as creative concepts together.
I’m thankful for Freestyle because it gave me exposure to creative work besides fine art. Because Silicon Valley puts so much emphasis on STEM, there aren’t many opportunities to explore other avenues. Thanks to Freestyle, I discovered my love for architecture and will be studying it in college! I also am grateful for the technical and thinking skills I have gained these last two years.
