Self-Portrait

  • Story Telling

Contrary to usual self-portraits capturing how one views oneself, we were challenged to take a photo showcasing how others view us. Others often see me as a reserved and conventional person, which I tried to capture.

Storms

  • Story Telling

Our prompt for this week was to capture the weather. Luckily (and interestingly), there was a hailstorm which enabled me to take this photograph. I thought the juxtaposition of the hail against the greenery of spring was peculiar.

Deadly Sins

  • Story Telling

Out of the 7 deadly sins (Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed and Sloth), I tried to capture lust. The subject of the photograph is a plant, which represents a person; just as a plant requires various inputs and proper attention and care to flourish, […]

Film Noir

  • Story Telling

A Shot of a Gate Through Rain Drops on a Window For this week, we took a photo that represents the changing seasons. I took a photo of a gate leading to a tree beyond that’s losing its leaves; the gate represents the beginning of […]

Color without Color

  • Story Telling

A Close-Up Shot of a Glass I decided to photograph glass since surroundings (and therefore color) are reflected in the glass. I felt that the various hues present in the glass would come across well as different shades and values when a black-and-white filter was […]

Friends and Family

A Fisherman Toy Pulling Up a Fish   With these week’s photo, we were supposed to tell the story of someone we knew well. This photo is about the struggles that my mom’s side of the family went through in order to secure a better […]

My Culture

  • Story Telling

A Jar of Nước Mắm (Fish Sauce) Nước mắm is a staple food in Vietnamese cuisine. A meal is thought to be incomplete without at least a dash of the sauce. Many families have their own recipes for nước mắm, and mine is no exception; […]
