The goal of this photo is to tell a story using shadow. I wanted to make a basketball scene using only shadow. It was difficult to get this right because I wanted to do it without a tripod so it looked like you were looking from the point of view of the person this is a shadow of. I wanted it to be sort of like someone reflecting on their training as an athlete.
