Last Chance

My illustration shows a meadow with several wilted flowers in a field while the sun sets behind the mountains. The idea was based on my short story, in which a man ends a relationship with his girlfriend, and realizes that it was the biggest mistake of his life. In order to tell her his feelings, he must work up the courage.,After missing several chances to tell her this, he objects at her wedding to another man.

In this illustration, the wilted, drooping flowers represent the chances that Derek passes up to tell Clair that he loves her. The live, colorful flower represents his last chance, the objection at her wedding. The sky is a sunset, which also represents how time is limited for Derek to express his feelings. The use of purple gives a feeling of sorrow and hopelessness.
