My poems surround my main theme: movement.
For these poems, it's more specifically about relationships between people, and people's relationships with God.

Lyrics for this poem:
Our Clock.
(vs. 1)
Our clock has lost all it’s numbers but two
Now it’s already half past the first one
So when we lock eyes with that untimely surprise
Will we remember how we planned to get there?
(chorus)
If we’re sliding past our time
We’ll have to slow it down
And when or if problems arise
We need to pour ourselves
Into containers that look a lot like you and me
If we’re suddenly feeling weak
We must remind ourselves that time can still be still
Whether we’re months or days or seconds away from two.
(vs. 2)
Our clock has lost all it’s numbers but two
The starting line and the finish
The day we met and the day you have left
Are the only ones I can distinguish
(chorus)
If we’re sliding past the time
We’ll have to slow it down
And when or if problems arise
We need to pour ourselves
Into containers that look a lot like you and me
If we’re suddenly feeling weak
We must remind ourselves that time can still be still
If we’re months or days or seconds away from two.
(vs. 3)
Our clock has lost all it’s numbers but two
And I lose sight of all in between them
I shouldn’t underestimate their value
But I get so caught up in you leaving
(chorus)
If we’re sliding past the time
We’ll have to slow it down
And when or if problems arise
We need to pour ourselves
Into containers that look a lot like you and me
If we’re suddenly feeling weak
We must remind ourselves that time can still be still
If we’re months or days or seconds away from two.
(bridge)
We can take advantage of the fact that time
Is anywhere at all and sometimes nowhere anymore
And that why from time to time
It won’t be able to find us
And we’ll be free
To turn back the hand of our clock
So in the meantime
I’ll help you pack on your voyage
To the land of bigger textbooks
Where there’s lots more eyes to see.
You’ll be on another clock
You won’t want the time to stop
I hope that when I reach you
You’ll find the time to look at me
And you’ll see…
(chorus)
If we’re sliding past our time
We’ll have to slow it down
And when or if problems arise
We need to pour ourselves
Into containers that look a lot like you and me
If we’re suddenly feeling weak
We must remind ourselves that time can still be still
If we’re months or days or seconds away from two.

Lyrics for this poem:
Sight.
(vs. 1)
Tightening, this feels right to me
Our sight is locked forever
Whether of not our eyes are open
Of if we're staring in different directions
(.mp3 file, 1.9 MB)
We fell off of a canopy of sticks and leaves
Onto a concrete balcony
Where all we could see
Were buildings and buildings
And more people building
These structures that get in our way
That canopy of sticks and leaves
Gave me so much more thaan comfort
It made me believe that anything was real
And it took away my sense of finality
It was an accident, a slip
You just couldn't help it
I tried to grab you
And we fell together
When the air was whisping by me
I thought I had a chance of landing flat on my feet
But when I hit that concrete bablcony my thoughts on the future
They buckled at the knees
What lies on the other side
For you is a suprise
But I like to call it
The future of our lives
We'll write our own stories
Away from these buildings
Where we'll plant a seed
That will grow into another canopy of sticks and leaves
