While walking through school, I stumbled across some beautiful purple flowers. I took this photograph after trying different angles. While it’s pretty simple, I’m pleased with how the lighting and focus played out.

For this photograph, I wanted to appear that I am magically floating sideways over a scene with a chair and some clutter. To make this, I stacked a chair sideways on top of two boxes next to a wall, and taped some random objects to that same wall to make the wall appear like a floor. Then, I sat down on the actual floor holding a measuring tape, giving the illusion that I am unaffected by gravity. Bright light sources some distance behind me provide illumination from “above” toward the “floor”, creating highlights and shadows that add to the illusion.

For this photograph, I wanted to take an angled picture of my hand playing a chord on the piano. Holding the camera at that weird angle in one hand made my hand shake a bit, creating some blurry pictures, but after several tries I managed to get a decent shot.

This meditative tranquil scene was taken at Redwood Grove Nature Reserve in Los Altos while I was taking a walk. The scene induces a sense of serenity when looking at it.

The hinges on my wooden gate have rusted over the years. I tried to reveal as much detail on the hinge as possible, including the spider above it.

Recently, I took some photos in a small forest. I found this perfect spot to take a “negative space” picture, in which an unusual bird house is seen between two branches of a tree.

For this photograph, I got my dad to pose for the camera while watering a rose bush. I warmed up the photograph by changing the white balance. Luckily, the shadow cast on the ground is clear enough to be evident what is happening.

For this photo, I wanted to take a picture of my eye with some sort of glint inside. I tried my best to keep the photo as unblurry as possible, and I went through photoshop to touch up some of the edges to make the image sharper. Unfortunately, some of the reflection details inside of the eye got lost, but luckily the white circle coming from the light overhead is still there. Overall, while I wish I did a better job at making a reflection in my eye, the photo not being that blurry makes it good enough for me.
For this photo, I wanted to have a more “dramatic” type of lighting. However, when initially taking the photo, it felt a bit off:

I felt that my face was too dark and the lighting didn’t feel very moody. So, I went into photoshop to completely rework the lighting, and I am honestly pretty happy with this result! The overall process took longer than a normal photo blog should probably take, but I’m alright with that since I love the result.
