Explorations
Introduction
The Exploration Project is a chance to try something you never have before. Due to me being a design student, I had a wide range on things I could do. I ended up choosing sculpting because I had always thought the idea of making figurines from clay to be very incredible. What I ended up sculpting was a creature from Greek mythology called the hippocampus due to how it was one of my favorite mythical creatures as a kid, and even now.
Progression of the project

The first part of the project was making a rough sketch of what I wanted to do. Since it was an ocean creature I was making, I wanted to show her sort of floating in the water, so I decided on this pose.

The next step was making the armature, which is the base of the sculpture. I bent a piece of metal wire into the shape of my drawing, before I started to cover it with foil.

I covered the whole wire with aluminum foil, to get it into the shape I want for my sculpture. I made the legs separately and then hot glued them on later.

After that, I started covering the base with Clay, and giving more shape.

I finished adding clay over the base, and used a different color for the mane and hooves. Then, I baked it in the oven to harden it.

I colored the sculpture with marker because I wanted it to be dark blue in color. Due to the fact that I used polymer clay, which is plastic based, I couldn’t use paint (which is also plastic based in most cases and will repel)

I finally added a shimmery powder over to give it a gleam, and to even out the coloring.
Overall, this project has been great, and has taught me a lot about sculpting. I will most definitely use this knowledge for later projects, maybe to make figurines. I have never really dabbled in 3d art before now, but this has opened my eyes to how fun it is.
Music Recording
For this project, we had to learn how to use the recording studio for music
My friend Elai and I both really like Abba, so we decided to record “Dancing Queen”. I sang and played the ukulele (warning: I am a beginner!), and he played the drums. Some things we did differently from all our other times ever recording music is that we were recording live instruments, and also, we each got the chance to be the ones adjusting volumes on vocals and editing the tracks.

Lyrical Essay
In English, we had to write a lyrical essay. This is essentially a piece of creative nonfiction. We had full range to write about anything we wanted to, I chose to write about sour throats, because I was plagued by one at the time we were brainstorming ideas. One very unique thing about this project was how our sources could be just about anything that gave us inspiration.
