Conceptual

Introduction

Within the conceptual unit we dabbled in expressive art forms such as story writing, lyric writing, photography, and experimental films. Along the way we learned how to use DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Records, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Adobe Audition and more. This unit pushed me to express myself unconventionally and in ways other than words and through risks.

Art Reflection

For this project, Freestyle Academy visited the MoMa Museum in San Francisco. The objective was to take a photo of any modern art that intrigued us and to reflect on it using limited words and poetic language to analyze how it makes us feel. For me I had chosen Four on a Bench, a difficult to digest art piece as it covered atrocities faced during WW|| in Poland. It reminded me of what my Popo and Mom had to go through to come to America from China.

Film

During the conceptual unit in film we made a few projects such as, green screen practice, and double mint project. Our green screen projects helped us learn how to properly utilize a green screen and avoid hot spots. Lastly in our double mint project we learned how to crop. With all these skills we then embarked on our first big project of the year, experimental films. Experimental films are films that express a feeling or thought without a clear storyline, which forced me to be creative to display grief through confinement.

Experimental Film

After 2 rounds of dailies to see raw footage and receiving critical feedback, we edited our final productions for our experimental films. Down Below is the process of my synopsis, editing, and final product.
