The Music Recording project was a digital media assignment where we could do a recording session with any song and talent of our choosing. It’s purpose was to teach us how to use the recording studio and be more advanced with pro tools. To start we had to find our talent which were these beautiful ladies:
Collaborative Artist Statement
It all started where Tina proposed that we should do something festive for our music recording project. It needed to be something jazzy and light so naturally we thought of Laufey. Estelle knew some singers from Los Altos High School that would fit perfectly into the song they chose: Santa Baby.
Our musicians Kaila and Nora were perfect candidates for this song. In the studio we practiced using different tools for us, as producers and our singers; Caila and Nora. We spent 2 hours recording singers separately and at the same time so we could mix it more complexly. It was interesting seeing how easy it was to manage the studio. During editing we all sat down together to pick the parts of the song that should end up at the final product. All while adding adlibs for more character to the song.
Personal Statement
It was super cool to be in the studio and see how everything worked. It was very organized. I could understand how, with more singers and instruments, it could be overwhelming. However, with just 2 singers, it was very manageable and easy to keep track of all the playlists in Pro Tools. I definitely see myself doing projects there in the future with more artists.
