Warmth, what a beautiful concept. So many memories come to my head with the idea of warmth, a fire after a cold day. Getting into bed on a cold night, talking to my favorite person after a hard day. Warmth comes in different shapes and sizes for everyone, but warmth can only be defined in the presence of coldness. Something can only be warm when there is something cold. But if there is one thing that makes me think of warmness, its the light on the house after traveling far away, getting to be back in my own bed. The familiarness of it all, that’s what comfort is to me.

To take this photo was fun, and went through several variations. It was late at night, i was walking around the neighborhood with the thought of warmness in my mind. I new I wanted to do something with light but had no clue what. I couldn’t do fire, we had no logs in the house, so I wandered for a bit. Took photos of street lights and Halloween decorations, which I adore. But finding this lamp here, I knew I had to take a photo of it. I didn’t want everything around it, I just wanted the light coming out of the lamp, with the juxtaposition of the darkness all around it. A juxtaposition of something cold, and something… warm.
