Hello! My name is Fiona Liu and I am a senior film student at Freestyle Academy and Mountain View High School. I am passionate about filmmaking(especially directing and editing), photography, and other forms of art. I plan to attend the University of Southern California for film and television production in the fall, before eventually working on feature films and other camera related work.
My showcase project is the project I am the proudest of during my time at Freestyle. I spent a lot of time working on it, developing my creativity and self direction skills. I was independent, and learned how to solve problems that arose. It was something I had never done before, and I believe that I executed it fairly well.
My film reel showcases works that I took part in related to my film work. It includes shots and moments that I am proud of out of the works I created. It shows my abilities in cinematography, editing, and storytelling through film as a medium. I utilized a variety of skills and I took on diverse roles throughout my projects.
Throughout my time as Freestyle Academy, I grew significantly as a filmmaker and an artist. I started without a lot of technical ability, and barely knew how to use a camera. I learned how to utilize the Adobe suite to fulfill my purposes, how to use lights and camera equipment, and improved my storytelling abilities. I learned how to effectively use three acts to convey a message with compelling characters and plotlines. I learned how to convey emotions through cinematography, and creative editing techniques. I built a brain for analysis and the ability to problem solve. I grew my own confidence in myself and my work.
