The Zenith Project is a project that is a culmination of the skills that I have learned during my time at Freestyle Academy. It is essentially the Ultimate Freestyle Project. It combines aspects of storytelling from English, editing from Digital Media, and filmmaking of Film. Students were essentially given free reign to create whatever they wanted, as long as it showcased abilities and was something new and creative.
I decided to try something I had never tried before: write and record the opening number to an original musical. I was passionate about this project because I am a huge fan of musical theatre, and I’d always wanted to try to write a score. The musical is titled “The Stanley Musical” and is based on the video game The Stanley Parable by William Pugh and Davey Wreden. I wrote an original musical composition, choreographed the number, and then recorded and filmed it.
This Zenith project was a new challenge for me because I had never seriously written a song or choreographed anything, especially for musical theatre. I researched a little about musical theatre and how the songs are generally formatted. I listened to a lot of musical soundtracks and the scores of the game itself to inspire my songwriting.
