About Me

Hi! I’m Hannah, and I was a senior at Los Altos High School/Freestyle Academy (2021-2022). My senior year was my first year at Freestyle, and it was a challenging, yet rewarding experience learning and tackling new projects. I have always been interested in the entertainment industry, and Freestyle was an opportunity for me to explore a new outlet of creativity.

My love for entertainment started when I took dance classes when I was younger. I explored various forms of dance, and participated in different classes throughout elementary and middle school. I eventually stopped dancing, but took a Jazz Dance course in sophomore year. In 5th grade, I joined choir, where I formed close friendships. In freshman year, I traveled to Sweden and Denmark to participate in the European Choir Games, where my group won Top Level Gold Medal, 3rd Runner Up.

After freshman year, I decided to leave choir so I could dedicate more time to acting. I started acting in community theatre shows in 7th grade, and took an acting class in freshman year. I eventually landed the role of Assistant Sound Designer in LAHS’s Broken Box Theatre Company. In Junior year, I got promoted to head Sound Designer. For my last two years, I have trained my mentees to take over once I graduate.

I decided to join Freestyle because while I had some experience with acting on stage and working in technical theatre, I wanted to get a taste of film and screen acting. Freestyle opened up an opportunity for me to learn how to use a camera, and push myself creatively. Digital Media has also been a welcoming challenge. Since 4th grade, I have taken art classes, but I never learned how to create art digitally. In Freestyle, I have been pushing myself to think outside the box, and to create pieces that I never would have usually made. Within my year at Freestyle, I have learned so much about myself as a person, and as an artist.

At the end of the year, I have discovered new ways for me to create art, and stepped out of my comfort zone by working with new people, exploring different programs, and using different techniques.

Freestyle pushed me to take more risks and think outside the box. I was able to work with so many new people and expand my skills.
