Below is my photonarrative project. For this assignment, we were told to choose two photographs to tell a story about the character we produced in english. The first photo depicts our character's internal conflict. The second photo depicts a situation where the character's internal flaw causes them to react to a situation in a different way than others would. After taking several potential photos, we chose two that best conveyed our particular character's story. Afterwards, we used photoshop to edit and tweak our pictures.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

            The first image of my diptych contains a rosebud being coddled and pampered by the several hands surrounding it. This represents Tiffany, an only child who has been overindulged throughout her upbringing. The rosebud is the focal point, and therefore the brightest object in the image. Tiffany’s pampered upbringing is represented by the yellowish, almost sickly looking hands- like a disease contracted from her parents that would forever affect her views and actions. This childhood has lead her to become demanding, self absorbed, and expectant of being the center of attention.
            The second image captures a moment of the character in her teenage years, where she is about to do something that risks completely humiliating herself, simply because she is not getting the attention she wants. In the photo, the character is sitting on a bench next to another boy and girl. The boy is paying attention to the other girl, causing the main character to get jealous. In her fit of anger, she is about to push a vase of roses off of the table next to her onto the floor. However, if she pushes the vase over she risks embarrassing herself, in front of the boy whom she likes, with her immature reaction. It is the character’s nature to be in the spotlight and showered with attention, and when she isn’t it evokes an intense jealousy. Her actions often result in negative attention- the opposite of what she wants.
